Cross-Chain Domain (Experimental)

A tutorial on how to bridge your .sol domain name to another chain via our Wormhole integration
Solana domain names are currently compatible with Solana and BNB smart chain for now
  1. 1.
To bridge your domain to BNB smart chain, connect your wallet to the naming.bonfida.org site
  1. 2.
Toggle the Beta button on and go to "View profile"
  1. 3.
Select "View" of the domain you would like to bridge
  1. 4.
    Select the Wormhole icon
To bridge your domain, it cannot be wrapped/tokenized. If it is, you need to unwrap it first
  1. 5.
Enter your BNB address and click "Bridge"
  1. 6.
Once you have successfully bridged your domain, you can go to the record section to confirm it. Within the record section, you can either remove or edit the address
Bridging your domain will only cost a small fee in SOL

Bridged domain use cases

The current cross-chain integration is read-only. This means that you can transact with your .sol domain name i.e when it is bridged you can use your .sol to send and receive funds instead of your BNB address
There are potential plans to move to what we like to call "Phase 2" which would allow you to register domain names directly with your BNB address, for example
We are in the works to get BNB wallets to support your cross-chain .sol domain name

Handling fees

When you use your domain to transact on another chain a 3 part fee is involved:
  1. 1.
Solana gas fee ~ 0.000005 SOL
  2. 2.
Cranking; which is the BNB gas fee, however, it will be paid in SOL using Pyth Oracle. It should be a SOL equivalent of ~ 0.002 BNB
  3. 3.
    Wormhole fee collector: 0.0000001 SOL
